Patrick Niebauer, Assistant Director and Pro Bono Coordinator
Patrick Niebauer joined the CSO in November 2023. In addition to working with students to help them navigate the employment process via counseling, resume and cover letter reviews, and mock interviews, Patrick also serves as the office's Pro Bono Coordinator, helping students with pro bono, public interest, and government opportunities. Patrick directs our public sector advising and programming, leads the law school's Pro Bono Program, and manages the Public Service Transcript Notation Program and MA SJC Pro Bono Honor Roll. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Colgate University and received his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He has a background in public interest law, having worked in the affordable housing and community development field for over 15 years before joining the CSO. Patrick started as a paralegal with Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc., a national non-profit developer of affordable housing based in Boston, where he worked while attending law school as an evening student. He then began his career as a practicing attorney with Nolan Sheehan Patten LLP, a boutique firm focused on representing developers and funders of affordable housing across Massachusetts. In this capacity, Patrick represented state and municipal agencies, including the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (formerly DHCD) and the City of Boston. He then worked in a similar role for KJP Partners LLP and then went back in-house, most recently working as a Staff Attorney for The Community Builders, Inc. in Boston before joining the CSO. Patrick has also successfully represented pro bono clients in matters involving the U.S. Social Security Administration, the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, and the Internal Revenue Service.
